The new municipal year got off to a fine start, with the Southwark Civic Awards and Mayor Making taking place at Southwark Cathedral on Saturday 7 June.

In East Walworth, Lorraine Hilton, a dedicated member of the Bricklayer’s Arms Tenants & Residents Association received an award, along with the Kinglake Tenants and Residents Association, which was recognised for its work in the community.

We also had the very great pleasure of formally electing Councillor Sunil Chopra as Mayor of Southwark and Councillor Neil Coyle as Deputy Mayor.

We want to congratulate everyone on their well-deserved awards, and don’t forget, you can nominate local people and organisations for next year’s awards already.
